Wallcovering Translations:
The Albani Room

This cross-stitched panel was inspired by the door of the Albani Room, which is found on the piano nobile level of the palazzo and forms part of the 18th-century apartment constructed under Augusto Chigi around 1740. The doors leading into the space are adorned with the intertwined monograms of the Prince and his wife, Maria Eleonora Rospigliosi, which is the detail that inspired this abstracted wallcovering reinterpretation. The room’s walls are finished with exquisite embossed leather, featuring putti and floral motifs set against a turquoise background. These historic coverings, along with the other leather coverings in the palace, were carefully restored and reassembled following World War II.
