Wallcovering Translations:
Studio of Prince Mario

This cross-stitched panel was inspired by the hand-stamped leather wallcovering pattern found in the Studio of Prince Mario. This room, created as part of the expansion of the palace’s northwest wing, once served as the studio of Prince Mario Chigi and reflects both his life and that of his wife, Antonietta Sayn-Wittgenstein. It houses a collection of paintings, photographs, prints, and personal mementos associated with the couple. The walls are adorned with exquisite “Venetian-style” leather wallcoverings, featuring peacocks, birds, and floral vases set against a rich red background, all of which have been carefully restored and reassembled.
